My Healing Lemonade

This pretty drink is my version of a Trim Healthy Mama recipe called the Singing Canary. It’s like a healing lemonade. I am fighting a little head cold, so this was the perfect way to start my morning, boosting my immune system, fighting inflammation and lifting my mood in one yummy drink.

Take the juice of 1 lemon, half a dropper of liquid Stevia, 1 tsp vanilla protein powder, 1 tsp Baobab powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric, a sprinkle of black pepper and 1 tsp MCT oil or coconut oil (because turmeric needs both black pepper and fat to be best usable by the body). Add a bit of water, put in an immersion blender and blend it well. Top it off with ice and more water to make 20oz.

Remember, turmeric has anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant qualities. Lemon is energizing, and just the smell will lift your mood. High quality protein powder grounds your blood sugar and provides amino acids necessary to develop neurotransmitters like serotonin. The Baobab powder also makes this a powerful immune system booster with 10x’s the vitamin C of oranges, and it is incredibly high in fiber. If you like tart and sour things, peel the lemon, remove the seeds and blend it up whole to include the anti-oxidant flavonoids from the pith. I drink this all year round and rarely get truly sick.
